In my years of experience, I often worked in rooms where I was the only person who looked like me, even when the target market for our clients' campaigns looked like me. This discrepancy revealed a major problem in the industry. I noticed that many agencies prided themselves on being "for the culture”, but their employees were not from the culture. That's how Mary Creative began. I wanted to create a space where creatives of color could shine and show the industry what it has been missing. Black women creatives make up only 3% of the industry. As economic diversity rises, it's crucial to incorporate research along with lived experiences into our creative campaigns. I ultimately wanted to create a space for people like myself to showcase their talents and support the communities from which they originate.

It is important to note that we are no longer fighting for a seat at the table...

We are flipping the tables and building our own, in rooms created for us.
